Being from NJ, my time down the shore is very important to me. I thought I would write what I wish I had known. We stayed in a Bourbon Tower Balcony Suite on the 20th Fl midweek, Mon - Thurs in midsummer. The initial price, booked early was $1,206.00. It had big living area, huge bedroom w/ big TVs and killer views, a big master bath w/ jetted tub and a 2nd bath which was small but included a shower. There was a bar area with a sink, microwave, wine fridge and 1 cup coffee maker but no plates, cups, forks, paper towels etc.- you’d have to bring your own. The balcony was the payoff - absolutely stunning views - the Marina-the beach and ocean - the Steel Pier (stunning at night) but no deck furniture, we used our beach chairs. The pool was small and crowded but fine, the beach was accessible and very clean. Best of all we our dogs were welcome. Now the downside. Although they are working on the place - a lot was in disrepair, the but the rug had big holes, the furniture and floors were banged up and the balcony needed work. The hotel, the elevators, the pool, and restaurants all old and in need of repair. Also there were additional charges, when I booked in Jan the dog fee was $50 per stay, that has changed to $100 per dog per stay ($200) and it cost $25 per day to park. Also even though the room was booked for 3 adults, in that big place there was only one bed - no pullout, so we paid to rent a cot, $25 per night. There are no stores around, you must bring everything with you snacks, meals, drinks, boardwalk prices are outrageous. If I’m judging my experience for a $400+ per night hotel-not great- BUT compared to what you’d pay for a ocean front shore house with wrap around views, a pool, and water park - it was pretty great. I also liked not having to bring my own sheets and towels and do the mandatory shore house cleaning. I hoped this helped.

despite the reviews about the property being dirty, upon our arrival, the property was extremely clean. when we arrived at our room on the 17th floor we were welcomed with a pleasant clean scent from the room, the carpet in the room was very clean, no crumbs anywhere, and all surfaces were clean. the beds were very clean and the sheets were very white with no stains on them, not to mention how soft and comfortable the mattresses were. the bathroom was very clean as well. we are very pleased with our stay at the showboat and the hotel offers amazing amenities on the first floor like entertainment, dining, an arcade, mini golf, roller skating and a MUST TRY go karting experience. what we loved even more about the hotel is that the rear of the building exits right onto the boardwalk, so we were always connected to even more entertainment. overall an unforgettable stay and we will be returning next year.

The property has had a facelift since they installed the water park. We did notice that it’s very cleaner. Our room was spacious huge bathroom and layout we were on the 9th floor. The check-in was quick and the valet service was as well .. FYI- valet parking did go up in price since we were last there non-guests and regular guests have to pay $34 to park your car. It was easy to navigate to our room and we were pleased with our room as well. Very updated. We did see that they are now building a steakhouse, an Italian place on premises. It was under construction so that gives us more options to eat inside the property.

From initial reception by the valet, to the daily meet & quick-chat with any and all employees, to the final sad departure... everyone was so kind, friendly, welcoming, and above all JOYOUS at living in the moment! THIS was the truest blessing, and it made my weekend so very wonderful! My wife, daughter, and our dog surely enjoyed the time also. I so hope to return sometime very soon!

Was very impressed the fact that it's a pet friendly hotel it didn't smell like one. Everything was very clean. With the exception of the walkway to & the pet potty area should be cleaned daily. 2 of the 4 days we were there the smell of urine was awful.
